Vet Tech Reunion

On Saturday, January 15, 2011, alumni from Manor College’s Veterinary Technology program convened at the Flourtown Country Club for an evening of dining, dancing and reconnecting with other alums, faculty and friends at the Vet. Tech. Alumni Reunion. Here’s what some of the guests had to say about what they are doing since leaving Manor and how they feel about their Manor experience.

Manor College Alumni Christine Ledwith, CVT ’07 (right) and Ryann Gambeda, CVT ’07 (left) met six years ago in Manor’s Vet. Tech. program and have been friends ever since, seeing each other often.
An Oreland, PA resident, Ledwith works at the Telford Veterinary Hospital in Souderton, PA as a puppy specialist, giving puppy consultation classes and first aid classes for clients, as well as assisting in surgery.
Gambeda, a Warminster, PA resident, works at the Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center in Langhorne, PA, where she is an internal medicine nurse.
Gambeda talked about enjoying the diversity of the program and said that, “Manor was great to me,” while Ledwith credited the program with, “giving me a whole new perspective on things,” and, “teaching me a lot of things I needed to know.”
Manor College Alumni Christie Mory, CVT ’02 came to the reunion with her boyfriend, Allen Gracely, hoping to see some people she graduated with. Mory works at Perkiomen Animal Hospital, a small animal clinic in Palm, PA. She has also been a teaching assistant for a Small Animal Clinical Procedure class for two years.
Mory said Manor’s program gave her, “excellent animal experience before going into clinics,” and credited the program for really preparing her for her job, saying, “At the clinic, we get people from other schools who come in and are not as prepared as we were.”
Kimberly Callahan, CVT ’08, pictured with her boyfriend, Owen Palwick-Goebel, lives in Northeast Philadelphia and has worked for several months as a veterinary technician at Neshaminy Animal Hospital. She came to the reunion hoping to reconnect with fellow alums and teachers, saying, “You get so busy, it’s hard to keep up. I miss Manor and working with the teachers and the other students.”
