DA202 Expanded Functions Laboratory Course Description

(aka EFDA Camp)

 

            This course includes practical procedures for performing reversible intraoral expanded functions as delegated to Certified Dental Auxiliaries by the Pa State Dental Practice Act.  It includes, but is not limited to practical procedures in placement, condensing, carving and finishing of amalgam, composites and other restorative

materials, placement and removal of rubber dams and matrices, and the fabrication of crowns, bridges and preliminary impressions.  This course may be taken by Certified Dental Assistants (CDA) that have worked in the dental profession for 2 or more years or Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH).  Students must have successfully completed a dental anatomy (DA106) course and supply us with a transcript form a n accredited institution showing a satisfactory grade of “C” or better in dental anatomy.. Student also have the option to hake a challenge final examination and receive a grade of 75 or better to be eligible to take this course.  (135 hours laboratory Materials fee of $100)

Prerequisite:   A satisfactory grade of “C” or better in all freshman-level courses.
