The Security Department is staffed with uniformed officers and a full-time Director of Security. Security personnel make rounds of the campus and buildings in order to assure safety. Security is on duty 24-hours a day, seven days a week, in the Residence Hall during the year, aided by the electronic security camera and monitoring system on each floor. A guard is stationed in the Academic Building during evening sessions throughout the year.
Campus Safety
Manor College’s community of approximately 800 full and part-time students (about 70 of whom live on campus) forms a close-knit group. The College promotes concern for everyone’s welfare. Personal responsibility for oneself and one’s actions, as well as respect for the rights of others, is fostered by students, faculty and staff. Manor College is located in a low crime area. The College has a well-lit campus, safe parking, and daily Abington Police car patrol of the campus, as well as Manor College security officer foot patrol. The College’s beautiful 32-acre wooded campus affords a quiet setting conducive to secure, peaceful living conditions.
Security personnel work closely with the Dean of Students, who is also the full-time Director of Security on campus, as well as with the local police and fire companies. The Resident Coordinator and Resident Assistants are trained to handle a variety of situations and to serve as liaisons to the Security Department. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to report any crime or unusual and suspicious incident to Security or Dean of Students as soon as possible.
The College community is made aware of security policies through the Student Handbook, at Orientation each semester, in Residence Hall monthly meetings, and by posted notices when necessary. All crime statistics are reported as required by the Pennsylvania State Police. Copies of current crime statistics are available upon request from the Office of the Dean of Students. The College has an excellent safety record
