Psychology
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Our primary goal is to enable students to develop an understanding of core psychological concepts, theories, and issues, as well as an understanding of the relevance and application of psychology to one’s life.
Our Program prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
To achieve this goal our program is designed with the following objectives:
- Define the term psychology and demonstrate command of the basic vocabulary of the discipline;
- Describe the major areas in the field, and identify the parameters of this discipline;
- Distinguish between the major perspectives (behavioral, psychoanalytical, and sociocultural) on human thought and behavior;
- Appreciate the variety of ways psychological data are gathered and evaluated;
- Gain insight into human behavior and into one’s own personal relationships;
- Explore the ways that psychological theories are used to describe, explain,
predict, and modify/control behavior
Manor’s Psychology Program makes transfer easier and more affordable. With the interviewing, behavior modification and counseling skills, the student can also secure an entry-level position in such fields as Recreational Therapy, Gerontology, and Human Services Settings
