The Advantages of Pursuing an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts at Manor

You will be better prepared to transfer to a 4-year college. Manor’s Liberal Arts program courses mirror the first two years of general education requirements in many four-year colleges and universities.

Your transfer to a four-year institution will be easier and more affordable.  Dual Admissions and Articulation agreements are in place with many of the finest private four-year colleges and universities in our area.  So most, if not all, of your courses will transfer. Many of these four-year colleges and universities offer transfer scholarships to students who complete their associate degree with a 3.0 or higher GPA.  Manor’s Career and Transfer Center
Our transfer center provides numerous resources for students who wish to transfer.

You will be prepared for entry-level positions in various business fields and career paths.  According to the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers, Inc., there are many career choices for Liberal Arts majors. Source: http://www.eace.org

Also, Manor’s Career and Transfer Center http://www.manor.edu/StudentLife/Counsel/career.htm provides numerous resources for students to decide upon a career or find a job after graduation.

You will save money.  Manor’s tuition is significantly less than that of four-year private colleges and universities, so beginning at Manor can save you money for transfer.

Our Liberal Arts faculty are highly trained in their respective disciplines with extensive teaching experience and will share their expertise with you in the classroom. We place a high priority on excellence in teaching and learning through the continuous enhancement and improvement of our curriculum. Also, once enrolled, you will have a Liberal Arts faculty advisor who will help you with transfer and/or career goals.

How will a Liberal Arts Degree give you the edge in today's job market?

Manor’s Liberal Arts Programs develop skills that will make you more valuable to employers.  The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) surveyed employers to ascertain what qualities they look for in hiring.  The Liberal Arts major is highly valuable to employers because the Liberal Arts graduate has developed strong written and verbal communication skills (the #1 desired skill in the NACE survey), honesty and integrity, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and teamwork skills, all of which allows you to adapt to changing job needs.

According to http://www.iseek.org/education/liberalarts.html, many Liberal Arts majors “advance more quickly to middle and senior management positions than their colleagues who pursued other fields of study.  A liberal arts education equips graduates with many of the skills they need to be successful. These graduates become employees that are ready to learn.”

A  Fortune magazine article ascertains that Liberal Arts majors are often more marketable than other majors. http://money.cnn.com/2006/04/12/news/economy/annie/fortune_annie0412/index.htm
