COURSE(S)

 

1a. To provide students with a core liberal arts and science education

 

 

The program goal is to develop effective teachers of the Catechism. In reaching that goal teachers will be exposed to the multiplicity of teaching and learning style and methods of measuring their effectiveness.

Each course in the program is to be designed with attention towards integrating multiple teaching and learning styles. Where applicable students will be exposed to classic pedagogical methods as well as original source materials of the classics in theology.

 

 

1c.To develop in students the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills that will enable them to communicate effectively

 

 

Students will be exposed to

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Other church documents and teachings.

 

Availability of resources through the library and electronic media.

3c. & 4a. To encourage the character formation of its students enabling them to recognize and practice ethical and spiritual values like the Judeo-Christian and Basilian

values of peace, justice

and concern for others.

 

 

Students will recognize that the vocation of catechist is a call for them rooted in Baptism. While these values will be featured in each course, particular attention will be paid in the course of Catholic Morality, and the particular challenges which face us today.

Values of peace, justice and concern for others should permeate all courses in program. Particular emphasis should be paid to developing these values in the Catholic Morality

 

To provide students with Information Literacy: the knowledge, skills, and tools to obtain information in many formats and media in order to identify, retrieve, and apply relevant and valid knowledge and information resources to their study or research.

Students will develop the ability retrieve, analyze and use information from the web and other electronic sources.

 

Creation of Syllabi with electronic links

Availability of computer resources to create electronic documents.

 

Students will be challenged with projects integrating: e-mail, web retrieval and integration, classic library skills.
